Rochlitzer Porphyry achieved its biggest prominence in the 11th/12th century in the building of numerous churches and its mountings like altars, lecterns, baptisteries, stoupes, tombs, ...

  • Augustinian cloister Zschillen of Wechselburg (1174-1184)
  • bottom of the western tower of St. Kunigunde in Rochlitz (1016)

Further churches have been build with the use of Rochlitzer Porphyry that time for instance in Geithain, Kohren, Altpenig, Rochsburg, Wiederau, Remse, Geringswalde, Zwenkau and Leipzig.
